Thanks to Cara Moulds, a fine art photographer specializing in nature and macro photography, the new offices of the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center have a serene, welcoming feeling. Cara generoulsy donated a number of her beautiful photograhs for the Center to hang, gallery-style, along its walls.
Cara’s approach to photography is based on her understanding of
archetypal symbolism and interpretation of imagery in literature and art. She holds a BA in English from the University of Baltimore and an MLA from Johns Hopkins University. She intuitively applies this background knowledge to the visual language of photography when making choices in design elements to convey the emotion and energy of an image. Her subject selections are inspired by her ongoing research in spirituality and philosophy. She continues to experiment with lighting, perspective, depth of field and bold colors to convey the mystical qualities inherent in the small, miraculous details of nature.
"We are grateful to Cara for gracing our office with her inspirational art," said Mary Catherine Cochran, Director of the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center. "Her photography helps instill a calmness, a wonderful sense of peace, for our clients."
Cara’s work was selected for the Howard County Council of the Arts’ Silent Auction in 2009, and her photography book "It’s Only A Thought Away" was published in 2009. Most of Cara's photographs are taken from her own garden or during hikes in various areas of the Patapsco State Park. Rock stacks and the labyrinth are photographed at the Bon Secours Spiritual Center in Marriottsville, MD.
