The Children’s Care Center at HCGH was the proud recipient of 50 pairs of new pajamas in various sizes and patterns from Kami’s Jammies, part of the Casey Cares Foundation. Founded in 2000 by Casey Baynes, the Casey Cares Foundation provides on-going, uplifting programs for families with critically ill children.
One special program of the Foundation is Kami's Jammies, which was created and inspired by the memory of a Casey Cares child, Kamryn, who touched so many people during her life, particulary during her hard-fought battle with leukemia.
Kami had a definite flair for fashion and during her treatments was a frequent, overnight hospital patient. She felt more at home when she wore a new pair of pajamas in place of hospital gowns. And so, Kami’s Jammies was born. For her grandmother Debi Katzenberger, the Program Coordinator for Kami’s Jammie’s, passing this symbol of warmth and comfort creates a normalcy for other critically ill children and continues Kami’s legacy.
