Caring for Cancer Programs
Programs include Nutrition and Cancer, a three-session individualized counseling program focusing on the dietary needs of people undergoing treatment for cancer or wanting to modify their diet to lower the risk of cancer.

Drop-In Support Group:
This group is designed for people caring for a loved one with cancer and offers a safe place to air concerns, and receive support and advice. The group is facilitated by Mary M. Dowling, LCSW, who maintains an individual practice in conjunction with Healing Point, LLC. Registration is preferred but walk-ins are welcome. Free.
Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of each month, 7-8:30 pm.

HopeWELL Cancer Support Groups (hopewellcancersupport.org)
HopeWELL offers programs for those whose life has been touched by cancer, including weekly support groups led by licensed psychotherapists. (Participants must attend a welcome meeting and a brief interview. Please call if you plan to attend.) HopeWELL also sponsors gentle exercise and stress reduction, meditation, visualization and social activities.

The Pro Bono Counseling Project (www.probonocounseling.org)
Free mental health counseling for uninsured, low-income families and individuals in need of mental health care. Counseling with licensed and insured therapists is provided on a volunteer basis.

Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts (www.tai.edu)
Founded in 1974, this private, non-profit organization was the first accredited acupuncture training program in the U.S. The Institute features a full range of healing arts including acupuncture, and herbal medicine. Free introductory programs include yoga, meditation, Pilates, and belly dance, as well as free workshops on topics such as Chinese herbs, zero balancing and exploring wellness.

The Ulman Fund For Young Adults (www.ulmanfund.org)
Founded in 1996 by Doug Ulman, a 19-year-old college student, soccer player and cancer survivor, this fund provides support, education and resources, free of charge, to benefit young adults, their families and friends who are affected by cancer. It offers a support group and special events throughout the year. The website includes a guidebook for cancer survivors and enables communication via a “survivors network” e-mail exchange program.
