HCGH believes in a family-centered approach to maternity care. Following birth, mother and baby move to the 32-bed Maternal-Child Unit with its adjacent newborn nursery and rooms that offer private showers and a home-like setting. Babies can room-in 24 hours a day and there are in-room accommodations for fathers or support persons. Certain medical conditions may require a temporary separation of mother and baby.
New mothers can get answers to questions about nursing during their hospital stay and after they take their babies home. Certified lactation consultants are available to help identify and solve problems.
