MRI images are obtained using strong magnetic and radio frequency waves. MRI is a non-invasive procedure. However, your physician may request that a contrast agent be used to better visualize organs or structures. If requested, the contrast agent will be injected during your examination.
The technologist will position you on the exam table and move the table into the magnet where you will hear a knocking sound while the images are being acquired. MRI exams usually take from 30 to 60 minutes per study.
Please inform us of any metal in your body at the time of scheduling. You will be asked to remove all metal objects. Your valuables will be secured in a personal locker.
MRI / MRA with IV Contrast - If you are 50 years or older, please make sure you have your blood work (BMP - BUN, Creatine).
