Symphony of Lights

An outing to the Symphony of Lights, now in its 16th year, is a long-standing tradition for Howard and neighboring county residents. A spectacular display of more than 70 larger-than-life, animated and stationary light creations, it is a “must-see” during the holiday season. 

Conveniently located in downtown Columbia's Symphony Woods, the display is open for vehicles from Monday, November 23, 2009 through Sunday, January 3, 2010. 

Hours of operation:
Open 7 days a week, including holidays: 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. 
Driving through the display does not require a reservation.
 
Admission costs: 
Minivans and other vehicles that hold up to 6 passengers: $20 per vehicle
Vans and other vehicles that hold 7 to 24 passengers: $35 per vehicle
Vehicles that hold 25 or more passengers: $125 per bus
 
Directions to Symphony of Lights at Symphony Woods, Columbia, Maryland:
From I-95, take Rt. 32 West (Exit 38-B) toward Columbia; exit at Rt. 29 North (Columbia Town Center); proceed to Exit 18-B (Broken Land Parkway) and follow signs to Merriweather Post Pavilion entrance on the right. Mapping your route?  Symphony of Lights is located at the intersection of Brokenland Parkway and Hickory Ridge Road, Columbia, MD 21044.

New! “Walk thrus” :
Walk thrus are now available for groups of 25 or more. Take in the lights on foot, for a special holiday evening. $5.00 per person.  “Walk thrus” are available from 4:30 – 5:45 p.m. each day that Symphony of Lights is in operation.  Reservations are required.  For more information or to make a reservation, please call 410-740-7840 (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m.).


NEW THIS YEAR! Special walk through events that anyone can join!  No group limit required!
  • Tail Lights December 18, 2009 4-6PM: Meet up with other dog lovers and enjoy a walk with your best friend through the 1.5 mile path of the Symphony of Lights. The light displays are even more fun when viewed on foot. Get a jump on your holiday spirit! Humans cost $5, dogs are free! Pre-registrations are preferred, but walk-up registrations will be available. Please call 410-740-7840 to have a registration form emailed to you. Leashes and clean-up are mandatory! Please make sure your dog is “social”! All walkers must sign a liability waiver before beginning their walk. Enjoy this taste of the holidays!
  • Blinkin' Binkies December 8, 2009 4-6PM Meet up with other moms (and dads!) with small children for this wonderful chance to share some holiday magic with your kids! Stroll along the 1.5 mile path through more than 70 light displays, and get a jump-start on your holiday spirit! Moms and Dads and kids age 5-12 cost $5 each, no charge for children under 5. Pre-registrations are preferred, but walk-up registrations will be available. Please call 410-740-7840 to have a registration form emailed to you. Dress warmly! All walkers must sign a liability waiver before beginning their walk. Enjoy this taste of the holidays!
